A Flash Of Lightning

This Vajrasattva is the only thing I have left from my days as a Buddhist. I walked out just before I was supposed to take ordination. Realising that in this time the sacred journey takes place in ordinary life, in family, in our work... I kept Vajrasattva as he was a gift from a dear real friend, nothing to do with the group. I’ve added this rupa back to my shrine after many years as a reminder to myself that it is my own life that is lit from the sacred within, and that cannot be found through tribal or cultural membership of any kind. Freedom is the name of the game. Freedom to be whole, to take responsibility, to be here in the now, messy and humble, no longer somebody, but just myself with all things in being.

Love to you on this Sunday morning, may you live with awareness from your soul in this very moment.

Bedside Books

My current small pile of Bedside Books:
Tao Te Ching - translated by Stephen Mitchell
Chuang Tzu - translated by Thomas Merton
Satchidananda - To Know Yourself (teachings)
Wendell Berry - The Peace Of Wild Things
Mary Oliver - Blue Horses

I’ve also just recorded a selection from Walt Whitman’s ‘Leaves of Grass’ as a bedtime story on Insight Timer App. If you’d like to be read to sleep, please do have a listen. Being read to is one of the most lovely things we can do for each other, even when we’re adults.
